Gaile Butvilaite was born in Vilnius, Lithuania. At the age of two, she moved with her family to Caracas, Venezuela, thanks to a cultural exchange—her father being a violinist and her mother a ballet dancer. She studied ballet and violin at the Emil Friedman Conservatory and lived in Caracas until she was 20 years old.

She then moved back to Lithuania, where she completed her acting studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. She began working as an actress at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre and the OKT Oskaras Koršunovas Theatre.

She has worked in film and television productions between Spain and Lithuania.

In 2023, she traveled to Cuba with a production by Lithuanian Television “Salsamanai” (the equivalent of Dancing with the Stars in other cultures), where she learned to dance Cuban salsa and won the competition as the “Queen of Salsa.”
In 2025, she wrote and directed her first short film, “December 24, 1977” which is currently in post-production.
She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in screenwriting at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
